What is an Issue Guide?
An Issue Guide describes a topic important to creating an age-friendly county in a way that is designed to increase understanding and mobilize support for specific recommendations. Issue Guides: humanize an issue by using anecdotes where available; describe the issue using the best available data from any source; describe the program landscape of what’s being done now and what gaps are known to exist; identify best practices; and make recommendations. Issue Guides include complete references to cited publications, and, where available, hyperlinks.
The Council for Age Friendly Communities is developing issue guides on a number of topics of special concern, including:
- Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias
- Emergency Preparedness
- Falls Prevention
- Social Isolation
- Suicide Prevention
- Unincorporated County
