Alameda County Social Services Agency (SSA): COVID-19 Information

The following PSAs were developed by the Alameda County Social Services Agency Department of Adult and Aging Services, in collaboration with the Council for Age-Friendly Communities:


Alameda County Interactive Map: COVID-19 Food Distribution, Testing and Other Services

Interactive map for Alameda County residents in need to search for nearby emergency food distribution sites, COVID-19 testing locations, and other resources. A cooperative effort of the Alameda County Social Services Agency and Emergency Operations Center.

Isolation Housing for COVID-19

The County of Alameda, in collaboration with Alameda County Health Care for the Homeless, Health Care Services Agency, Abode Services, and the State of California, has initiated Project Roomkey. This includes Operation Safer Ground, safe housing available for homeless individuals who are over the age of 65, or medically fragile; high-risk with a variety of health conditions.

Legal Assistance for Seniors

Legal information related to COVID-19 including the Alameda County COVID-19 Eviction Moratorium, Medicare information, and other up-to-date resources for older adults.

Alameda County Tax Collector’s office: Property tax penalty waiver eligibility and other COVID-19 information
COVID-19 information including waivers on penalty payments for property owners who are delinquent on their property taxes due to demonstrated COVID-19 related circumstances. Property owners must provide supporting documentation to substantiate requests, which are being reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Visit the above link for full details and updates.

The following resource flyers were developed by the Council for Age-Friendly Communities to share telephone resources with isolated seniors and caregivers of seniors. The flyers include resources in multiple languages, and can be downloaded and printed.


Friendship Line California: 1-888-670-1360 

24-hour, toll-free “life-line” dedicated to serving Californians over 60 who may be feeling anxious, fearful or lonely. Both a crisis intervention hotline and a warmline for non-emergency emotional support call, the line is staffed with specialists who provide emotional support, grief support, active suicide intervention, information and referrals.

Alzheimer’s Association 24/7 Helpline: 1-800-272-3900

24 hours, toll-free. Offers confidential, professional support, information and referral to people living with Alzheimer’s Disease and other Dementias, caregivers, families and the public. Available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, and many other languages.

 California Department of Aging COVID-19 Information and Resources for Older Adults

A wide range of statewide resources that includes, but is not limited to COVID-19 information for older adults, people with disabilities and families; activity guides in multiple languages; statewide data; resources to bridge the digital divide; mental health resources; and links to other helpful organizations across California.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) COVID-19 Guidance for Older Adults

Resources in multiple languages for older adults and people who have severe underlying medical conditions. Includes information about prevention, symptoms, data, resources for health professionals, travel, and the global response to COVID-19.

Federal Administration for Community Living (ACL) COVID-19 Information for Older Adults and People with Disabilities  

Information in English, Spanish and American Sign Language includes prevention, ways to stay connected, mental health resources, and webinars.
